Many years honing my photography and photo-editing skills have resulted in a process that is friendly, educational, and flexible.
I started my career in a design process that is fundamentally built around text and visuals, which are largely images. Although I have minimal formal training in photography, learning how to do it well seemed a natural next step for a designer seeking control over the inputs to the craft.
My favourite subjects to capture are cosplayers - their innovation, commitment, and characterization are inspiring, and their costume selections are fun and colourful. I love to draw out the unique characters that they represent, and help them develop their modelling and documentation skills.
Modelling
Many people feel uncomfortable in the focus of a lens, and my experience as a photographer and model has made me uniquely qualified to help others overcome this barrier.
I offer modelling courses and can provide comprehensive education to my photography subjects. My goals are to build skills, confidence, and teamwork so that we can capture the best images possible. I love to draw out the unique characters each person represents, and help them develop their modelling and documentation skills so that they can get the images they need when working with other photographers, too.
Self-shooting
As a makeup artist and costumer, being able to self-shoot was crucial to my documentation process. I share this knowledge freely, as depending on skill level or need, not everyone has a photographer ready to drop everything and head over to capture a makeup look or costume.
That said, a part of learning self-shooting is knowing when to call in the professionals!
Photo editing
For those who already have their photography, I also work as a photo editor, cleaning up backgrounds, correcting skin and fabric, and colorizing to match the photo’s end use needs.
As a long-time Photoshop wizard, I also like to teach others how to engage with editing in a way that removes the intimidation factor of this vast program.
